it is 8:23am on a Sunday as i begin to write this. i wanted to get on and transcribe some thoughts i am having in real time to share later…
i am thinking about how important it is to feel settled, stable, steady, secure. i’m thinking about the root chakra and the importance of its energetic balance to overall wellbeing. if we do not feel stable and steady, if we do not feel supported, we cannot relax into a state of wellness, bliss, joy, or samadhi. i’m speaking about life as the practice of yoga.
what i teach my yoga students and am always reminding myself in my own practice is that we cannot be well if we are not supported or steady. it is difficult to settle into a posture, whether physical or energetic, if our bodies are not supported. for example, when we are practicing asana (the physical practice of yoga, the postures and movements) but are struggling with balance, we do not get to experience the benefits of whatever posture we’re practicing.
